We are a boutique investment advisory firm. We’ve chosen to be small to develop deep relationships with our clients.
Why a boutique?
We believe each client deserves our full attention. Real financial planning and investment management are complex and time-consuming, but the benefits are tremendous — financially and psychologically.
I’m not too fond of things that make me feel like one of the masses. I don’t shop at big box stores. I’ll take a chance at a mom-and-pop restaurant before eating at a chain, and I shop at local businesses whenever possible. I prefer talking directly with service providers and despise 800#s. I’m no one special; that’s just how I’m built. Designing the firm any other way wouldn’t make sense.
I’m here for the journey with my clients, not firm recognition or a high valuation.
How does a smaller firm do all this?
I know my lane and, more importantly, what my clients need.
I don’t run 401 (k) plans for companies with hundreds of employees. I could, but for me, it’s a pretty boring space, and there are firms that are much better at handling that.
I also don’t do insurance. I was licensed for 15 years and let it lapse. Again, it’s boring and there are tremendous conflicts of interest. So I advise clients on what type of insurance they should have and how much, then help them find a solution. Most of the time, it’s lowering their insurance coverage.
These are business decisions I’ve consciously made over 20 years, so I can pay attention to what really matters for my specific clientele.
